"We had such a wonderful time at the Red Rattler Retreat, and would highly recommend to any friends travelling to Mudgee. The Rattler is wonderfully renovated, with ample space for relaxing and gathering with friends.
A particular favourite of ours was the outdoor bar by the campfire - a magical place to stare up at the stars. The place is well equipped and comfortable for 6 people. The biggest plus of our stay was the pub just a short walk across the road."

"Red Rattler Retreat was the perfect getaway we needed! We had such a great rest. The carriage was perfectly renovated and decorated, the bedroom was comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped with our needs to prepare meals.
We also enjoyed the beautiful deck especially during sunsets with the local wildlife. We also took the opportunity to experience gold panning in the nearby creek.
Vicky is extremely friendly and attentive, and have also made sure we have board games to keep ourselves entertained. Will definitely recommend and come back again!"

"Four of us stayed over New Year's and had the best time. The property is huge and so well-kept. The renovations to the carriage are so lovely and there's everything you need inside.
We tried our luck at some gold panning across the road and went for a nice walk in the property next door. It was such a relaxing few days and we'd love to come back!"

"We stayed at the Red Rattler Retreat as a family of four and absolutely loved it. Such a unique stay within easy reach of beautiful Mudgee. It meant it had a good mix of activities for adults - visiting the wineries, great eating spots and shopping - but also fun for kids - the outdoor fire pit was certainly a stand out for them, as well as cooking damper, and kangaroo spotting.
The accommodation itself was just wonderful and Vicki was exceptional to deal with in the lead up to our stay."

“Red Rattler is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Everything was there that we needed. The peace and quiet was lovely. Beautifully laid-out property with bush walks just through the gate.

"Such an incredible experience and great place to stay. Could not fault the Red Rattler and highly recommend staying here! Super comfy beds and very warm in the train. You can really see the love and care that was put into renovating the train.
We saw quite a few wombats, kangaroos and even a pig on the roads which was a bit exciting! Quite close to Mudgee and Hill End - a beautiful and fantastic part of the world!"

“The Red Rattler was the perfect way to connect with nature and unwind. With no wifi, it was easy to disconnect from reality! Vicki and Pat have done an incredible job renovating this 1920s train carriage. It is such a unique stay - with a lot of lovely and historic details (including a silo bar with a REAL gaol door!)
The town and surrounding area is full of history and it was cool to learn about it (Vicki & Pat have left books on the area). We also gave fossicking a go, as this is what Windeyer is known for. We didn’t find any gold, but definitely made a lot of great memories during our stay. Thanks Vicki & Pat for having us."
